About Us
Mission Statement
At the Velvet Nursery, we believe that nurturing plants nurtures the soul. Our mission is to inspire confidence in every plant lover—whether novice or collector—by offering thoughtfully curated greenery and guidance that transforms everyday care into moments of calm. We’re here to help you take root, slow down, and find joy in the pause.
Our Story
Velvet Nursery was planted by a sister duo with nurturing at the heart of everything we do. As moms of boys, one a dedicated registered nurse and the other a passionate school teacher, our days revolve around cultivating growth—whether in little humans or lush green spaces.
What started as a shared plant hobby soon blossomed into something more: a way to create beauty, calm, and connection beyond our homes. Velvet Nursery is our corner of joy, where wellness and greenery come together to inspire and uplift.
We’re not just selling plants—we’re sharing a piece of the care and intention that shapes our daily lives. Thank you for growing with us.
Priya – The Big Sister
A registered nurse of 8 years and mom to two toddler boys, Priya’s plant journey began humbly—with a few succulents from a big box store that didn’t survive. But instead of giving up, she dove deeper, determined to keep the next one alive—and she did.
Now, she finds peace in the slow rhythm of plant care, especially in the quiet moments spent watering after a busy day of motherhood. Her favorite plants? The chubby charm of succulents and the regal beauty of her Alocasia Pink Black Velvets..
Madhavi – The Little Sister
A school teacher of 10 years and mom to one adventurous boy, Madhavi began her plant journey in search of calm—wanting to create peaceful, grounding moments in her home. Her first loves were a sturdy ZZ plant and a graceful fiddle-leaf-fig tree, which soon led her to explore flowering beauties like hoyas and orchids.
With a patient hand and a natural eye for harmony, Madhavi brings her love of quiet growth and curated spaces into every part of Velvet Nursery. She believes plants don’t just decorate—they teach us to slow down, tend with care, and find stillness in the everyday.
